Exploring the challenges of forensic technology in responding to credit card fraud in Sedibeng Region, South Africa

Today use of Credit Card even in developing countries has become a common scenario. People it to shop, pay bills and for online transactions. This study explored the challenges forensic technology responding credit card fraud as an approach used by South African Police Service (SAPS) Sedibeng region. was carried out utilising qualitative thirty nine interviews were among officials deployed SAPS, community leaders, members bank managers. The key findings indicated that this scourge is perpetrators utilise advanced technologies resources (computer hacking software) opposed SAPS which does not have systems nor capacity effectively respond crime. limited crime adequately. For recommendations; significant emphases should be directed on promotion public awareness through education. intensive training inter-governmental collaboration between police forums, managers Banking Risk Information Centre (SABRIC) understanding are highly advised.
